Fees

At Clonmel Children’s Dental Clinic, we provide specialist dental care for children in a welcoming, supportive environment. We understand that planning your child’s dental care also means understanding the costs involved.

‍

Following your child’s detailed initial assessment, we will provide you with a personalised treatment plan, including a clear breakdown of the recommended treatment and associated fees.

Examinations

New Patient Assessment – €140

Includes examination, X-rays where clinically indicated, cleaning, oral hygiene and dietary advice.

To secure your child’s initial assessment appointment, payment is required in advance at the time of booking. This allows us to reserve dedicated clinical time for your child and ensures that the appointment is confirmed.

General Anaesthesia

Where dental treatment under general anaesthesia is recommended, there are three separate components to the overall cost:

  1. Dental treatment – the cost of the dental treatment required will be discussed with you as part of your child’s treatment plan.
  2. Hospital fees – hospital and theatre fees are separate from the dental treatment fees - €1200. These may be partially covered by private health insurance, depending on your individual policy.
  3. Anaesthetic fees – the anaesthetist’s fee is also separate - €550

Health Insurance

If your child has private health insurance, your policy may cover the hospital fee, less any applicable policy excess, and contribute approximately €180 towards the anaesthetist’s fee. We contact your insurer on your behalf to help arrange confirmation of cover. The level of cover available will depend on your individual policy.

Dental Insurance

Two dental insurance providers available in Ireland are Vhi Dental and DeCare Dental.

Depending on your policy, dental insurance may provide cover for visits to the practice, with a percentage of eligible dental costs covered after any applicable waiting period. We recommend checking the details of your individual policy directly with your provider.

Tax Relief on Dental Treatment

You may be eligible to claim tax relief on certain dental treatments using a Med 2 form.

We complete the Med 2 form for all eligible treatments and provide it to parents following completion of treatment. The form explains which treatments qualify for tax relief.

Cancellation Policy

All our appointments are confirmed in advance. If you do need to cancel, after confirming, please provide us with at least 48 hours notice for cancellations. This will enable us to offer your appointment to a patient who is waiting for an appointment.

Please also be aware that there will be a charge of  €80 to  €100 for missed appointments or late cancellations. Cancellation fee is dependent on the length of the cancelled/missed appointment.

All treatment and associated costs will be discussed with you in advance, so that you have a clear understanding of your child’s proposed care and the fees involved.
